Description

We are excited to announce that all UMBC community members are invited to attend a screening of the documentary The Condor and the Eagle!

The Condor and the Eagle film documents the stories of four well-known Native environmental spokespeople who are at the forefront of a perspective shift in the identity of their people, from forgotten voices to powerful and influential leaders. They have struggled with feelings of isolation their entire lives and are now discovering the power of their shared voices to bring change to the entire world. Watch the trailer here!

As part of the Impact Campaign "No More Sacrificed Communities" there will be a viewing of the Documentary film "The Condor & The Eagle" on December 3rd @ 6pm ET. Directly after the film viewing, join us for a conversation about the urgency of zero waste and a move away from incineration. The panel will be a vibrant conversation about the kinds of environmental justice organizing that has occurred in Baltimore over the past decade, how questions regarding environmental justice have transitioned into claiming rights to land, land trusts, and alternative forms of development. Youth from Free Your Voice (a grassroots organization part of South Baltimore Land Trust) will discuss their plan for implementing city-wide zero waste and the need for critical solidarity from all Baltimore city residents.

Registration for this event is required, so please follow this link if you are interested! We hope to see you there!
