Invasive Plant Art Workshop
Create paper from reused materials & invasive plants!
Location
Off Campus : OCA Mocha
Date & Time
April 28, 2023, 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Description
Invasive species are a threat to our forested spaces + native trees on campus. We need to spread awareness and take action on protecting our native forest species in the face of climate change. The UMBC Office of Sustainability is collaborating with Jessie Houff and OCA Mocha to host an invasive plant art workshop. Jessie Houff is a Professor and Communications Manager at the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. She has an MFA in Community Art and is passionate about papermaking, teaching, and sharing spaces with eager learners. This educational + creative workshop provides community members an opportunity to learn how to make paper reused from the UMBC Facilities Management office, press invasive plants onto their paper, create artwork they can take home, and be featured on the Office of Sustainability website.
Come whenever you are free during the timeframe, no need to stay the full workshop time or be there right at the beginning if it doesn't suit your schedule.
