UMBC Home to New Outdoor Air Quality Monitor

The Office of Sustainability and Facilities Management are excited to share that a new outdoor air quality monitor has been installed at UMBC!

This project uses laser particle counters to provide real time measurements of Particulate Matter (PM) PM2.5.  The monitoring can help the general public, as well as air quality professionals, gain a better understanding of air pollution.

Users can view, and download, the open data using the “Outdoor Air Quality” tab in the UMBC Sustainability Retriever Interactive Map (http://bit.ly/UMBCSRM). Additionally, users can explore other locations in Maryland part of the network. For more information about Air Quality please visit The Maryland Department of the Environment’s webpage: https://mde.maryland.gov/programs/Air/AirQualityMonitoring/Pages/AQFacts.aspx
