Interdisciplinary Life Sciences: Green Bldg breaking Ground
Did you know UMBC's newest building, the Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building, has a breaking ground ceremony today at 3pm on the Quad? The building will replace the site of the one story Theater Building, thus minimizing the addition of paved surfaces and protecting green space on campus.
The green building will have an patio overlooking the rooftop garden and Environmental Systems Lab – A flexible, high-bay research space to support field research in aquatic and environmental ecosystems. Like all of UMBC's new buildings, it is designed to meet US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and special bay-friendly features to reduce pavement and erosion through plantings!
