Carpooling just got WAY EASIER!! Yes!!!

Just heard this: "UMBC is excited to introduce a new partnership with Zimride, as a new transportation option for campus!

UMBC Zimride is our new online ride-matching service that integrates with Facebook or myUMBC, and connect drivers and passengers within a private UMBC network. It is free for students, faculty and staff- just login using myUMBC or Facebook to join and begin searching for matches or posting rides of their own.

UMBC Zimride provides an easy way to take weekend trips or go home to visit on breaks by sharing a ride.  Students share the expense of the trip, and also reduce traffic, air pollution and parking congestion by riding together.

Faculty and staff members can save time, money and stress on daily commutes to campus with a carpool, made super easy to arrange with ZimRide. The search feature allows us to post our commutes (arrival and departure times can be set either firm or flexible) to find matches in our network.

Here’s how it works:
• The UMBC program is available only to students, faculty and staff, so it's safe. You must have UMBC ID to sign up for the network.
• It only took me a few seconds on zimride.com/umbc, to set up a profile (I could choose to be driver or passenger), search for open seats, or post my ride and destination... and it's safe.
•I linked my profile to my Facebook page so I can see if people I already know are looking to ride together too.

Best of all: "The Zimrideoffering is part of the university’s focus on sustainable transportation, which combines car sharing, ride matching, the UMBC Transit shuttle, bicycling and public transportation to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff." YASSS!!!!! 😀

Once a bunch of people use this, we'll have way more free parking spaces TOO! Alright, I'm sold. Let's go ahead and combine forces, meet new people, and get to campus cheaper... I've registered. Your turn!!!!

(seriously you have to registeror I won't be able to find anyone to carpool with...)
