Julianna, the president of the garden student org, sent out this message:
First, Thank you! I appreciate your willingness to help out this summer, and I am excited to see you all in The Garden! Below is a button that will take you to a spreadsheet to record the times during the week when you are most available to come out. If you cannot always come at those times, that is fine. I would just like to have a general understanding of who will be in the garden and when, and I would like to convey when I need you most. |
You may have noticed that the times are correlated with morning and evening hours. Early morning is the best time to do almost everything in the garden in the summertime, but late evening will do for a variety of other tasks.
These evening tasks can include but are not limited to:- pulling weeds
- cultivating with the hoes
- planting
- watering in addition to what was done in the morning
Please feel free to do any of these while you are in The Garden. If you have questions about the necessity or appropriateness of a task, don't hesitate to call or text me at 443-880-8290. I'll do my best to answer your question quickly and effectively. |
There are many other things that need to be done in the garden outside of the day to day. I will list them here. Please let me know if you can contribute time or resources to getting anything done.- fixing a disheveled wheelbarrow
- numbering the beds with weather resistant paint to help people better identify their plots next semester
- mulching paths in the permaculture space and around the raised beds
- planting clover in the permaculture space (we need red or white clover seed)
I'm looking for free/reused park benches and containers. In addition, we were looking to find large tree slices to use as seats in the permaculture space. |
All this being said, I am organizing work days where I'd like to see people come out to help with the listed tasks, even though I'm sure you all will be there other than the work days. Here is your first invitation: |

Invite friends, and please keep an eye on our social media outlets and your email for more information and updates.
