New Dataset for UMBC's GHG Emissions Published

New GHG Dataset Released

The newest dataset for the university's Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions is now available for the community.  This dataset includes emissions data from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021. UMBC maintains and publishes annual GHG Reports to document the university's progress towards carbon neutrality. 
Specific Goals:
  • Carbon neutral by 2050
  • 100% reduction of Total Carbon by 2050 relative to 2007
  • 100% reduction of Stationary Fuels Carbon by 2050 relative to 2007
  • 100% reduction of Purchased Electricity Carbon by 2050 relative to 2007
  • 60% reduction of Purchased Electricity Carbon by 2030 relative to 2007
  • 50% reduction of Purchased Electricity Carbon by 2025 relative to 2007
  • 40% reduction of Purchased Electricity Carbon by 2020 relative to 2007
Change in Emissions from 2011 to 2021:
  • Scopes 1 and 2: -31%
  • Scope 3: -54%
  • Gross emissions: -41%
  • Net emissions: -41%
