Recycle Beyond the Bag

Between Nov. 15, 2019 and May 1, 2020 UMBC is participating in the NexTrex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge. The Office of Sustainability and Facilities Management will collect your plastic bags and films at designated locations across campus. Our goal is to meet, or beat, the challenge, which calls for us to divert 500 lbs (~40,500 grocery store bags) of plastic film from the landfill. When we meet this goal Trex will recognize our efforts by donating a bench made from recycled plastic films! Learn about the NexTrex Process in Winchester, VA.
